Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026. This policy explains what the Paranormal Incident Archive ("the Archive") collects, why, and the choices you have. The Archive is a fictional entertainment archive; stories are dramatized folklore narrations and community submissions are unverified.
What we collect
- Browsing: nothing is required. The case files, map and globe work without an account and without tracking cookies set by us.
- When you sign in with Google, Reddit or Facebook: your provider account id, display name, avatar image URL, and email address (when the provider shares it). We never receive or store your provider password.
- Content you submit: sighting reports, comments, votes and favorites you create, including the location text and any video links you provide.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) kept by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.
How location data is handled
Sighting coordinates are automatically rounded to a coarse grid of about 1 km (0.01°) on our server before storage. Please do not submit exact home addresses or other precise personal locations.
How we use data
- To operate accounts, attribute submissions and comments to their authors, run community rankings, and display investigator levels.
- To moderate content: all community submissions and comments are reviewed before publication.
- To prevent spam and abuse (rate limits, automated checks).
- We do not sell personal data. We do not use your data for advertising profiles.
Sharing
Your public profile shows only your display name, avatar and investigator level. Your email address is never shown publicly. Data is processed by Cloudflare (hosting, database) and by the sign-in provider you chose, under their own policies.
Your choices
- You may delete your account at any time from within the site. Deletion removes your sign-in identities and sessions and anonymizes your account record; published community content is retained in anonymized form unless you ask us to remove it.
- To request removal of specific content or a copy of your data, contact us at the email below.
Children
The Archive is a horror-themed entertainment site and is not directed at children under 13.
